Do you want to lose weight & be healthy? You’ve got to convince your brain.
I love the way my friend Dr.Sang Lee explained this to me years ago – he said something like this, & I know it was truth. I’ve shared this insight with patients and it has helped some to lose weight successfully. So I’m sharing it with you too.
When you want to lose weight you have to convince your brain first that you are serious about your health – not just about losing weight, but also about protecting your body. It’s like you have to get a permit. The brain is in control. It controls your appetite, metabolism, hormones, blood sugar, & how much fat cells can expand or shrink. It does it unconsciously to protect you & your health. You cannot control this consciously.
You can’t fool the brain, It is brilliant. When you try to lose weight with some unbalanced crash or starvation or fad diet you can do it temporarily, but it always comes back to you & then some.
If you eat right, exercise, stick with it, enjoy it & have a cheerful attitude, you will convince your brain that you are serious about protecting your health. It will give the OK to lose weight & keep it off. It may take 2 or 3 months to convince the brain. But be patient. It’s worth it.
Why do you have to convince it? The brain is trying to protect you. It wants to avoid a crisis. If you should decide to go back to your old unhealthy eating habits it can be dangerous. Fat & sugar will back up into the blood & there will be no room to store it. So you could have a stroke or heart attack or get diabetes more easily. Protecting your health is your brain’s priority.
