Natural Mosquito Repellent – Doris J.Rapp, M.D.

mosquito_634_600x450Doris J.Rapp, M.D., Board certified in Environmental Medicine, Pediatrics, and allergies suggests not using toxic chemicals on our bodies to repel mosquitoes.  She suggests making a DIY non-toxic repellent of essential oils of peppermint, eucalyptus, lemongrass, and citronella mixed with vegetable oil. Mix and dab on clothing. She said that mosquitoes do not like: cedarwood, lemongrass, frankincense, cinnamon, geranium, eucalyptus, basil, rosemary, clove, peppermint, melissa, citronella, and thyme.

Try mixing a combination of oils in distilled water in a glass spray bottle and spritz yourself with it periodically as a repellent to insects.  Glass bottles with spray tops can be found at
