Fat cells store toxins. If you want to shed pounds, a detox is a good way to start. Colette Baron Reid in her book, “Weight Loss for People Who Feel Too Much”, writes about the benefits of daily bathing in Himalayan salt and essential oils. She said that the salt provides minerals and negative ions (a good thing). She recommends soaking for up to twenty minutes in a bath of Himalayan salt, epsom salt and essential oils (lavender for calming, rosemary or grapefruit for detox, and orange for an analgesic). She said bathing at 4 PM is an optimal time but if you can’t do that, make a spritzer of Himalayan salt water and essential oils. Spritz your body at 4 PM to help relieve stress. She also recommends using a body salt scrub made of medium grind Himalayan salt, apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil, 10 drops of lavender, 30 drops of orange and 10 drops of peppermint. Use a glass jar and fill it 2/3 full with the salt. Add the apricot kernel and jojoba oil. Add your essential oils and mix. She said to experiment with different oils to come up with your own favorite blend. http://colettebaronreid.com/

Colette said that we should use Himalayan salt (edible version) in place of table salt as it contains minerals that our body needs. Table salt and Kosher salt are bleached and devoid of minerals.
