Research study documents that Lavender essential oil reduces stress hormones

Research has shown that lavender essential oil may reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

Essential oils of lavender are used in many aromatherapy products including bath gels, soaps, lotions, and hydrosol. I recently purchased Kombucha tea with Lavender in it. Many products claim to be lavender-scented but they probably do not contain pure therapeutic grade essential oils used in research studies. Cost cutting measures like solvent and chemical extraction renders the product unsuitable for consumption.

Cortisol is a stress hormone secreted by the adrenal glands. Cortisol levels are increased by mental stress such as anxiety, depression or worry. High cortisol levels can lead to weight gain, loss of bone and metabolic syndrome. Applying or diffusing essential oils along with breathing exercises may help to reduce stress levels to bring you back to balance.
