Making your own natural skin care products and lotions

Many commercial skin care products contain surfactants that drive toxic chemicals into the skin and ultimately end up in the bloodstream. There are many essential oils that are nourishing and safe for the skin.  Use cold pressed carrier oils such as jojoba, avocado, borage seed oil, rosehip seed oil, argan, or coconut oil as your base.   Add a few drops of any of following essential oils to your carrier oil  for a beautiful natural product: Lavender, Helichrysum, Frankincense, Carrot seed oil, Rosemary verbanon, Rose, or Geranium.   Use one oil for several days and then change them for best results.   Carrier oils have a shorter shelf life than the essential oils. Refrigeration is a good way to extend their shelf life.  Always avoid getting essential oils in the eyes.  If you want to check to see if your current skin care products  are safe, go to  http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
